This qualification introduces a range of actions, skills and knowledge to be applied to a paddlesport or other water-based environment. Learners successfully completing this course will be equipped to respond to a medical emergency or accident where water is an additional hazard. This course includes actions for drowning, administering CPR, use of an AED and Hypothermia & Hyperthermia.
This comprehensive two-day qualification is designed for those who work outdoors in rural or remote environments. It will enable learners to undertake the role of the First Aider when emergency medical assistance could be more than 30 minutes away. It provides learners with the skills and knowledge to respond to a range of emergency outdoor situations including when and how to move a casualty, major illnesses and injuries, administering CPR and managing an unresponsive casualty.
The course is designed for all paddlers irrespective of their chosen craft. The objective is to introduce, explore and practice simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the paddlers with the tools to solve common paddling issues.

Course Content:
Throughout the course, candidates will explore simple strategies and safe skills that can provide the tools to solve common paddling issues. The course content focuses on rescuing from the paddlers specific craft and covers equipment, safety frameworks, as well as a range of rescues including contact and towing rescues, self-rescues and deep water rescues.
The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is a 6-hour programme that consists of 6 modules.
Attendance certificates are issued to candidates by their Delivery Centre, following a recommendation from the course provider.
